Captain Cory Call

Cory began his law enforcement career in 1999 as a deputy with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. He lateralled to the Foster City Police Department in 2001. Cory worked as a patrol officer, a motorcycle traffic officer, a field training officer, and with the San Mateo Countywide Gang Task Force (GTF).

Through 2007 and 2008, Cory moved through the positions of acting corporal and acting sergeant before being promoted to corporal in 2008 and sergeant in 2009. Cory worked as a patrol sergeant for four years. During this time, he served as an operator with North Central Regional SWAT and a supervisor overseeing GTF activities throughout the county. Cory was assigned as the administrative sergeant in 2013. As the administrative sergeant, Cory’s responsibilities included recruitment, policy maintenance, background investigations, community event coordination, and oversight of youth services, detectives, community service officers, crime prevention, community outreach, and property.

Cory was promoted to the rank of patrol lieutenant in 2015. As a lieutenant, Cory’s responsibilities included oversight of patrol operations, Department training, our SWAT contingent, the field training program, the traffic safety unit, the body-worn camera program, Department GTF participation, and oversight of regular GTF deployments throughout the county.

In November of 2019, Cory was promoted to the rank of Captain. He is currently assigned to the patrol division and remains involved with GTF in a rotating commander capacity.

Cory earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University and a Master's Degree in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego.  He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute (SLI) and the LAPD Leadership Academy.
