Foster City Announces Fiscal Year 2022-2023 Budget Preparation Calendar

The City of Foster City is in the process of developing its annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year which begins on July 1, 2022 and ends on June 30, 2023. This key policy document allocates funding for operations, projects, and programming, which ultimately determines the level of service that will be provided to the community over the coming year.

Work Underway to Clean Algae Bloom in the Foster City Lagoon

The unseasonably warm weather experienced throughout the region recently has caused an algae bloom in the Foster City Lagoon, resulting in a rise of dead algae and the associated appearance of water discoloration or presence of floating material. Though unsightly, the natural occurrence is not harmful, and Public Works crews have taken swift action to improve the lagoon water’s condition.   

Second Harvest Food Bank Free Grocery Program

Second Harvest Food Bank with the help of local volunteers distributes pre-boxed groceries for anyone in need to pick up in the Foster City Community Center/Library parking lot on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month starting at 8:30am.  The program will be a farmers market style distribution center.  

• Members receive a bi-monthly bag of groceries. The bag could include items such as fresh fruits and vegetables, rice, bread, eggs, chicken and much more. Members can pick up one bag per household from the site.

• Applying for this program will not affect your ability to apply for other government benefits or local agencies

Beach Park Elementary School Traffic Signage Update

School is in session at Beach Park Elementary at the corner of Beach Park and Shell Boulevards. The City has painted the roadway as a school zone, but the permanent signs to remind drivers to proceed with caution have been delayed from the vendor.  Remember that it is always important to drive carefully in a school zone at all times, and especially when children are present.
