The Foster City Police Department adopts the use of body-worn cameras to visually and audibly record specific categories of interactions between officers and the public and to retain associated video for a period of time. Officers shall utilize the device in accordance with the provisions of this policy.
To increase transparency, accountability, credibility and evidence collection, all Foster City Police Officers have been equipped with Body Worn Cameras for several years. Body Worn Cameras (BWC) capture our contacts and responses to crime and encounters with the public. You may notice our officers wearing their cameras mounted on their uniforms. These devices will record as deemed necessary and in accordance with our department policy.
