Foster City Recruitment Process

The City of Foster City employs approximately 185 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees.  Applications for employment are accepted only for positions that are currently open.

Upon receiving an application for an open position, an acknowledgement email or letter will be sent to you.  The Human Resources Department will contact applicants selected for interviews after the position's specified closing date.  Depending on the position, you may meet with one or more individuals in the hiring department, including the supervisor for the position. Some positions require you to meet with an interview panel (oral board). After the interviews are complete, the hiring manager will extend an offer to the most qualified candidate.  If you are selected for employment, you will be required to present proof of identify and eligibility to work in the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.  Some positions may also require a physical examination for which the City will arrange and pay.  The Human Resources Department will answer any additional questions you may have.
