For immediate release: December 4, 2026
Contact: Public Works Department, publicworks@fostercity.org
In an effort to ensure the long-term functionality of Foster City’s main water line, crews are planning to begin maintenance work on Monday, December 8. No service interruptions are expected as part of this work, but residents should continue monitoring the City’s communications channels over the coming days in case conditions change.
The upcoming work continues efforts that started last year, when a break was discovered in the City’s water main line which required overnight emergency repairs. In preparation for the work to begin next week, Foster City has reached an agreement with Mid-Peninsula Water District to provide additional water supply during the repairs if needed. Work is expected to last roughly five days, but the extent of the necessary repairs should be identified by Tuesday, December 9.
To conserve water while this work is taking place, the City is pausing irrigation and limiting water usage.
