Traffic Improvements Planned for Foster City Boulevard Median

Starting September 15, 2025, Foster City and its contractor Spektren Engineering, Inc. will begin modifying the northbound median on the Foster City Boulevard overpass of CA-92 to extend the left-turn pocket. Barring any weather-related delays, work is expected to be completed by Friday, October 3.

During construction, certain lanes may be temporarily closed from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday; however, vehicle access will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. There is no weekend work. Please follow posted signs and traffic control measures for safe travel through the construction zone.

The Foster City Boulevard Median modification project consists of tapering the median on the Foster City Boulevard bridge back to allow for more vehicles to queue up for the left-turn lanes onto Chess Drive. This improvement will help prevent spillovers of vehicles onto the through lanes. In addition, the two left-turn lanes will be restriped and pavement markings refreshed.
