Due to limited space to accommodate summer camps while the former Recreation Center is under construction, senior programming will be temporarily relocated to the Community Center. As part of this planned relocation, senior programs will be moved from the current location at The Vibe to the facility at 1000 E. Hillsdale Blvd., adjacent to the Foster City Library, from Monday, June 9, through Friday, August 8.

There will continue to be limited opportunities for senior drop-in groups at The Vibe this summer on Thursday afternoons from 1:15-3:15 p.m. This availability will apply to those who play or participate in: bridge, pedro, knitting, joy luck club, table tennis, and billiards. The Vibe will be closed to the public on Thursday, June 26, and drop-in hours will not be offered that afternoon. Those looking to access the Thursday afternoon drop-in hours should note that only the card table area on the main floor of The Vibe will be available, which could result in multiple groups utilizing the same space at once.

Community members are reminded the elevator at the Community Center continues to be out of order – although there is some hope that it will be operable again by the end of the summer. The Parks and Recreation Department and Foster City staff apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the community’s understanding and patience.

“We understand the temporary relocation of this programming is inconvenient for many of our senior community members – especially with the Community Center elevator being currently inoperable,” said Parks and Recreation Director Derek Schweigart. “But please understand this displacement is only temporary while our summer camps are in session. Senior programming will soon return to its normal schedule and location until we are able to open our beautiful new Community Center, which will have plenty of space to accommodate all our programming, next summer.”
