San Mateo County History Museum Celebrates Foster City’s 50th Anniversary

Foster City, CA; July 19, 2021 – The Foster City Historical Society and the City of Foster City are pleased to announce the following unique events that will be held at the San Mateo County History Museum at 2200 Broadway in Redwood City. The events are part of the ongoing series of celebrations held throughout the year recognizing Foster City’s 50th anniversary:
 

Free Webinar: Saturday, July 31, at 1 pm

Richard Hopper, the City’s former Public Works Director, will speak about the history of the City’s creation.  This free webinar will focus on the building of the City and the unique features that make up its character.  Hopper served as Public Works Director from 1975 until 1980.  The program is part of the Historical Association’s “Courthouse Docket” lecture series sponsored by Cypress Lawn Heritage Foundation. Photo Exhibit “Foster City Through the Years”:  August 10, 2021 – January 2, 2022

The San Mateo County History Museum will open a photography display entitled “Foster City Through the Years” on Tuesday, August 10.  Features include images showing the island before its development, artistic concept plans for the planned community, pictures of the City under construction, and photos of residents over the last five decades.  For more information, visit the https://historysmc.org or contact Foster City Recreation Manager Tiffany Oren at 650-286-3380 or toren@fostercity.org.
