Press Release from the Foster City Police Department

In the early morning hours of Thursday, February 26, officers from the Foster City Police Department conducted a welfare check on an unhoused individual near Baywinds Park; the individual was found deceased in their tent.

While officers did not observe any suspicious circumstances at the scene, the Foster City Police Department continues its coordinated investigative efforts with the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office. At this time, there is limited information that can be released publicly.

“The Foster City Police Department, and Foster City staff, extends our heartfelt condolences to all who may be affected. We also recognize the profound challenges experienced by people that may lead to being unhoused; we remain committed to working compassionately and proactively to connect community members with support services and resources,” said Foster City Police Chief Cory Call.
