The June 21, 2021 City Council regular meeting is scheduled to be the first in-person/virtual hybrid public meeting in Foster City. After more than a year of virtual meetings only, the Council Chambers will reopen on June 21 to host hybrid City Council meetings. Under this hybrid model, councilmembers, members of the public, and staff will have the option to either participate in-person at the Council Chambers or virtually via Zoom. The hybrid model aims to ensure all members of the public have continued access to meetings in a format that is comfortable for them.

With Governor Newsom’s announcing June 15, 2021 as the intended “reopening date” for California, resuming in-person meetings in a hybrid format on June 21 aligns with the state’s model for safe reopening. “Maintaining access to City Council meetings virtually will create an increasingly equitable option for participants and the public to decide how they would like to attend. Our goal is to be as accessible as possible to our community, so we hope this flexibility allows for that” said City Manager Peter Pirnejad. The City is in the process of planning and procuring the necessary equipment prior to the June 21 meeting and will continue to closely monitor State and County developments and directives, reevaluating and adjusting the in-person/virtual hybrid meeting plan if necessary.
