Out of an abundance of caution, the June 21, 2021 City Council regular meeting will take place as a teleconference/video conference virtual meeting, instead of as an in person/virtual hybrid meeting as previously stated. Following the City Council decision in May to implement the June 21 meeting as the City’s first in-person/remote hybrid meeting, the City planned and procured the necessary equipment and continued to closely monitor State and County developments and directives.

Because Cal/OSHA workplace safety regulations have not yet aligned with California Department of Public Health's relaxing of facemask and distancing guidance, the planned in-person portion of the meeting was reevaluated and adjusted to ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA directives.  While it is expected that these regulations will be adjusted by the end of this week, the City wants to ensure that it can provide adequate advance notice to the public of the safety protocols that will be in place when the Council returns to in-person meetings. The City is currently planning for July 19 City Council meeting as the first in person/virtual hybrid meeting. “The adjustment in the date of the first hybrid meeting was carefully considered to ensure alignment with State regulations and community safety and accessibility, and we are looking forward to continuing virtual access to City Council meetings, provided Cal/OSHA workplace safety regulations align with California Department of Public Health's, and welcoming the public back in person on July 19” said City Manager Peter Pirnejad.

Under the hybrid model, councilmembers, members of the public, and staff will have the option to either participate in-person at the Council Chambers or virtually via Zoom. The hybrid model aims to ensure all members of the public have continued access to meetings in a format that is comfortable for them.
