Description

September 15, 2025 update:

PG&E Completes Neighborhood Gas Replacement Project

Recently PG&E has completed work on a residential gas service and main replacement project that took almost 2 years. Back in 2023, PG&E undertook a residential gas and gas main replacement project in the Halibut St., Grunion Ct., and Bramble Ct. areas to remove and replace residential gas service lines as well as service mains in this area that had been in service since the late 60’s and early 70’s. PG&E crews and contractors worked for almost 2 years before they had completed replacing all residential gas service lines and mains before restoring the streets back to their original condition. No City infrastructure was harmed during the time the project was underway.

PG&E will be working in the Carmel Village communities for a pipeline replacement project to improve the safety and reliability of the natural gas system. Approximately 2,700 feet of 2-inch gas distribution main and 85 service lines will be replaced/relocated for homes on the following streets:

Halibut St.                 Grunion Ct.                  Bramble Ct.

Portions of Marlin Ave., and Beach Park Blvd. will also be impacted by this work.

The project is anticipated to start in early April 2024 and should be completed by early to late 2024. Work activities will be limited to the hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weather and other factors affecting safe working conditions may change the project's schedule.

PG&E will contact homeowners prior to the start of work. Parking and driveway access may be affected, but onsite crews will be available to help facilitate access to the driveway. Please observe all posted traffic signs through the construction zone for safety of the public and PG&E workers.
