Steps for obtaining a Re-Roof permit.

Step 1. Planning approval required prior to building application.

Step 3. Pay Fees. (Business Licenses if applicable)

Step 4. Permit is issued.

Step 5. Schedule required inspections. (General inspections include a tear off, materials, in-progress and a final inspection)

A building permit is required for all interior and exterior changes except for cosmetic changes such as carpeting or painting. A permit is required whether the change involves new construction or replacement.  

The purpose of building permits is to ensure that the proposed work complies with state and local codes enacted for health, safety and energy conservation purposes.

The Building Division is responsible for ensuring that all construction projects permitted within the City comply with the California Building Codes, the Foster City Municipal Code and all other applicable codes and regulations.
