Community Safety makes Foster City a great place to live, work and play!

Foster City Fire Department has an average response time of approximately 4 minutes in town, compared to the required 7 minute maximum contractual response for medical calls.  The Fire Department has a Class 2 rating from the Insurance Services Office. In 2014, the Fire Department responded to 2,243 calls for service.

The Fire Department responds from one centrally-located station with two fire engines. A truck staffed by Foster City personnel and a shared Battalion Chief are housed just over the border in San Mateo. There is a low incidence of fire and quick and responsive level of service provided by all staff.
