RethinkWaste is inviting students and teachers to get creative and give trash a new meaning through its 5th annual "Trash to Art" Contest. This contest challenges students and teachers to give trash a new meaning by creating artwork using materials that would otherwise have been thrown away. The contest is open to all 3rd to 5th grade classes and individual students in the RethinkWaste service area. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st through 4th place winners in both class and individual categories. Winning art pieces will be announced on March 31, 2017 and recognized at the RethinkWaste Earth Day event on April 8, 2017. The art pieces will also be on display at Shoreway's Environmental Education Center.

Artwork must be submitted by 5:00 pm on March 24, 2017 to the Environmental Education Center at the Shoreway Environmental Center (333 Shoreway Road, San Carlos). For complete contest rules and entry forms, please visit their website or send an email to tours@rethinkwaste.org.
