Bring the ‘ohana (family) and celebrate with the Foster City Arts and Culture Committee. On Sunday, May 4, 2008, from 10 AM to 5 PM, Leo Ryan Park Amphitheater will ring with the sights and sounds of the islands at the fifth annual Foster City Pacific Islands Festival.
This year the festival will focus on the iconic Coconut Tree. Learn about the legend of the coconut tree, and how the native Polynesians used every bit of the tree for shelter, survival, food, medicine or decoration.
The festival will feature tantalizing cultural performances from award-winning professional Polynesian Dance companies including E Honu Iti E of Tracy, Hiva Nui of Stockton, Hui Tama Nui of Vallejo, Ke Ola Loa of Hayward, Merahi o Tehani of Union City, Nemenzo of Daly City, ‘Ote’a ‘Api of Fremont/Tracy and Te Mau Ta’ata Anuanua of Merced.
Don’t miss this exciting day of cultural activities, Arts and Crafts booths, canoe rides offered by Ho’okahi Pu’uwai Outrigger Canoe Club, food and more! Admission is free, however food and drinks are available for purchase.
