For immediate release: May 25, 2023

Contact: Parks and Recreation Department, rebuildtherec@fostercity.org and (650) 286-3380

Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts on the design of the new Foster City Recreation Center by taking the project’s second community survey at https://www.surveyhero.com/c/essbqbtt, or visiting the Recreation Center at 650 Shell Blvd. The deadline for taking the survey is Sunday, June 11.

Feedback provided in the survey will help determine the look and feel of the new Recreation Center. The existing Recreation Center, located in Leo J. Ryan Park, is nearly 50 years old and necessary investments in infrastructure improvements are required to meet current structural, seismic, and programmatic needs. Construction of the Recreation Center Rebuild project is anticipated to begin in 2024 and will last for approximately two years.

Those interested in learning about the project are also invited to attend one of the pop-up kiosks at community events such as Off the Grid food trucks on Wednesday, May 31, from 5-9 p.m. in the Senior Wing Parking lot at the Recreation Center, or the Splash into Summer outdoor movie night from 6:30-10 p.m. on Thursday, June 8, in Leo Ryan Park. The project will also be discussed at the upcoming joint Planning Commission and Parks and Recreation Committee study session on Thursday, June 1, at 7 p.m.
