New Traffic Signals to be Installed at Key Intersections

For immediate release: July 1, 2022
Contact: Public Works Department, (650) 286-3270, publicworks@fostercity.org

Residents and motorists are advised that new traffic signals and other improvements will be installed at key locations throughout Foster City. The work will include, but is not limited to, the construction of new traffic signals, curb ramps, and crosswalks at the following four intersections: Beach Park and Shell boulevards, E. Hillsdale Boulevard and Gull Avenue, Foster City Boulevard and Polynesia Drive, and Edgewater Boulevard and Port Royal Avenue.  The work is expected to begin on July 5, 2022.

The City’s general contractor for this project is Columbia Electric Incorporated.  Work activities will normally take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. However, there may be instances when work activities will need to take place outside the normal periods.  Because of the extensive work required, the project is expected to take approximately eight months to complete, weather permitting.

The City appreciates the cooperation of residents who live on streets adjacent to the construction or regularly travel through the identified intersections. Streets may be temporarily closed, and street parking may be temporarily prohibited.  Please expect delays.

Anyone with questions or concerns or those seeking more information regarding this project should contact the Foster City Public Works Department at 286-3270.  Updated information about this project will also be posted on the City of Foster City website at www.fostercity.org.  The City appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation with any inconvenience related to this construction.
