Did you know there are now two types of water-saving toilets available to consumers?

1)  High Efficiency Toilets (HETs) are modern efficient toilets designed to use at least 20 percent less water than standard low flow toilets.  Although they use less water, they perform well.  This program offers up to a $150 rebate for the purchase of a new HET.  Follow this link to learn more about the Commercial and Residential High Efficiency Toilet Rebate Program.

2)  Ultra-Low Flush Toilets (ULF) can save about 75% water consumption for each toilet flush simply by installing a new ULF toilet.  The City will rebate you up to $150 for each ULF toilet you install.

The City of Foster City's ULF Toilet Rebate program lets you receive 50% of the material and installation costs for each ULF toilet that you install (up to three ULF toilets per household).

You may obtain a Toilet Rebate Form by any of the following methods:

• Requesting one by e-mail at maintenance@fostercity.org
• Stopping by City Hall and picking-up a hard copy
• Calling us at (650) 286-3200 to receive a Toilet Rebate Form in the mail

Once we receive your form and approve your rebate, here are some steps you should be aware of:

1. Prior to purchase of your ULF toilet, contact the Public Works Maintenance Division at (650) 286-8140 to inform them of the toilet replacement and to obtain an application.
2. Purchase a ULF toilet which uses 1.6 gallons or less per flush.
3. Install the new toilet(s). This can be done by yourself or any plumber that you choose.
4. Return original receipt to the address indicated on the application. It must be an original receipt(s) from the plumber indicating the installation date, or if you installed the toilet(s) yourself, an original purchase receipt.
