Clue Mystery Scavenger Hunt

Who doesn’t love a good mystery?  We’re closing out National Parks and Recreation Month with a Clue-style Scavenger Hunt.  Grab your cohort of aspiring sleuths and see if your team/family has what it takes to find out who committed the “crime”, how they did it, and where they took the victim! This FREE event will require you to travel (we recommend biking) throughout Foster City solving riddles and puzzles along the way.  After you have collected and examined all the evidence, you will be able to successfully solve the crime. To encourage physical distancing, you will have two weeks to complete the mission.  

The Crime:
We have been notified that Karla, our beloved Camp Outback mascot, has been taken!  We’re forming a group of Foster City investigators (FCI) because we need your help to solve the crime.  On July 31, we will release the evidence that we found at the initial crime scene.  Be prepared to follow the clues spread throughout the city while solving riddles and puzzles along the way. Only after you have collected and examined all the evidence, you will be able to successfully identify the weapon used, the criminal, and where we can find our beloved mascot!  Update 8/13/20: You have until August 17, 2020 at 5pm to complete this mission.

Where to Find the Clues:
This family friendly scavenger hunt will require you to visit 8 locations in order to collect all of the clues.  Each clue will have our Clue Mystery logo so make sure you keep an eye out for the magnifying glass icon during your search. We strongly encourage that you document everything as you never know what will come in handy when you try to solve the mystery at the end. The first clue is available NOW (see below).

Rules:

• Be sure to maintain appropriate social distancing while you investigate and please make sure you leave the clues where you find them so fellow sleuths can view them. 
• If you need help or have questions about the game, email us directly at recreation@fostercity.org. 
• Please do not share any spoilers on social media, we want to make sure everyone gets the chance to complete the scavenger hunt.

What to do When you Solved the Mystery:
Once you have solved the mystery email FCInvestigators@fostercity.org with the:

• First name of the person who took Karla the Kangaroo
• The weapon that they used in the crime
• Where Karla the Kangaroo can be found
