Compost Bin Incentive Program

Worm Compost Bin

Composting is nature's way of recycling fruit scraps, vegetable scraps, and yard trimmings. Compost provides valuable nutrients for garden soil and helps retain moisture, which saves water, prevents erosion, and loosens compacted soils for better drainage.

The City of Foster City Compost Bin Incentive Program provides a rebate up to $40 to residents who choose to purchase a home composting bin that is at least $40 in cost. Just attend a San Mateo County Compost Workshop!

Please note that only backyard compost bins, worm compost bins, or compost tumbler purchases though the City's agreement with Triformis Corporation are eligible for a rebate, and the County of San Mateo/Foster City order form must be used to qualify for the program. Incentive funding may also be combined with the County's compost bin discounts. Complete information about the Compost Bin Incentive Program is available in the Program Guidelines.

Incentive funding will be authorized by the City Council on an annual basis for the period of July 1 through June 30. This incentive program started on July 1, 2017 and will continue until the funding source is exhausted. The incentive program may be terminated at any time without notice.
