On October 7th, 2017, at approximately 6:34 p.m., an armed robbery occurred at the corner of Balboa Street and Vespucci Lane. The victims, a 45 year old female and a 78 year old female, were walking on the sidewalk when two suspects got out of a car that stopped on the street near them. The victims were immediately confronted by two suspects, one of whom pointed a handgun at one of the victims, and demanded their property. Both victims, fearing for their lives, turned over their purses that contained their phones, wallets, and money. The two suspects entered a grey colored Volvo, which immediately fled the scene while being driven by one additional suspect. One of the victims called 911 on the cellphone of a nearby witness and reported the robbery. Neither victim was harmed during this incident.

The FCPD located the grey Volvo a short time later and followed it onto the San Mateo Bridge. The suspects fled when the officer tried to stop the car, and a pursuit ensued into Hayward. With the assistance of the Hayward Police Department, the FCPD located the grey Volvo at the Food Source grocery store on Mission Boulevard in Hayward. Because the suspects ran from the car, an extensive search was conducted by FCPD and Hayward PD officers that ultimately resulted in the arrest of two of the three suspects. Additionally, the gun used in the robbery was recovered at the location where the suspects were arrested. During the course of this investigation, the victims' property was recovered as well.

Arrested for charges of armed robbery, conspiracy and evading arrest were: Ellesse Shawbrie McFee, a 20 year old female residing in Oakland; and Collee Clifford Taylor, an 18 year old male also residing in Oakland.  Both were booked into the San Mateo County Jail. The investigation continues to identify and locate the third suspect involved in this incident.
