At the City Council meeting on September 17, 2018, the public will have the opportunity to learn about the existing conditions and projections for the future that will guide the development of the Recreation Center Conceptual Design Plans.

At its regular meeting on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 6:30 PM in the City Council Chambers, 620 Foster City Boulevard, Burks Toma Architects will be on hand to present its pre-design findings related to the project climate and current facility trends, needs assessment, program fiscal viability and opportunities and constraints of the site. This data and related findings will provide the foundation for moving forward with the actual conceptual design development which is scheduled to be complete by the end of calendar year 2018.

The public is encouraged to attend this meeting to learn more about the Recreation Center Master Plan project.

The William E Walker Recreation Center in Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park was opened to the public in 1974.  The current need for significant structural upgrades and repairs to this aging facility has dictated the timing to evaluate the best and highest use of the facility and its immediately surrounding park amenities.  In order to gather the information necessary for making a decision about the project, the City completed a Community Input Study between October 2016 and April 2017.  The City awarded a contract to Burks Toma Architects to develop a Recreation Center Conceptual Design Plan in March 2018.
