Foster City Kicks off 50th Anniversary Festivities and Unveils Commemorative Logo

The City of Foster City will celebrate its 50th anniversary later this year on April 27, 2021! In honor of the special occasion, the City will be organizing a series of fun activities, contests, and pop-up campaigns that will largely commence on April 1, 2021 and take place through the remainder of the year.

To commemorate Foster City’s birthday, the City has released a special anniversary logo to help capture the occasion and uniqueness of our community. View the logo on the City website at www.fostercity.org/FC50.  

“We’re celebrating 50 years of Foster City,” said Mayor Sanjay Gehani. “That’s 50 years of ingenuity, progress, and most importantly, community. We are proud to recognize this momentous occasion in our City’s history. I hope everyone will join us in celebrating our past as well as the progress we are making towards an exciting future!”

Community members can kick off the festivities early by participating in the first celebratory activity—a Student Art Contest! From March 1, 2021-March 31, 2021, K-12 students currently attending or living in the City of Foster City can submit artwork related to the theme: “Why I Love Foster City.” All entrants must fill out an entry form and include a short paragraph on why they love Foster City. All mediums are welcome (for example: pencil, pen, crayons, markers, paint, or digital design). For contest details and rules, visit www.fostercity.org/studentartcontest.

A full calendar of activities will be released in the coming weeks, along with a website dedicated to the City’s 50th anniversary.
