For Immediate Release: August 22, 2018
Contact: Lawrence Tam, Assistant Engineer, (650) 286-3275, ltam@fostercity.org

By repairing streets proactively on an annual basis, the roadways in Foster City consistently rank among the best maintained roadways in the Bay Area, which contributes to the high quality of life we enjoy in the city. Starting early September 2018, the City’s contractor, G. Bortolotto & Company, Inc., will begin this project. Barring any weather-related delays, work is expected to be completed by the end of November.

The project consists of installation of curb ramps, asphalt paving, and restriping, including bike lanes and bike markings called sharrows, along the East Hillsdale Boulevard-Beach Park Boulevard corridor starting from the westerly City limit. The installation of bike lanes and sharrows are funded through the Transportation Development Act (TDA) Article 3 Pedestrian/Bicycle Program, which funds specific projects that encourage and improve bicycle and walking conditions within San Mateo County. To minimize disruptions, work will take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. During construction, lanes may be temporarily closed and on-street parking prohibited during the day of work. Access to driveways may also be restricted. Please follow posted signs and traffic control measures for safe travel through the construction zone.

The City appreciates everyone’s patience and cooperation for any inconveniences caused by construction activities as we strive to improve the roadways in Foster City. Please contact the Public Works Department at (650) 286-3270 if you have any questions or comments. Updated project information will also be posted on the City’s website at www.fostercity.org.
