Bring Your Friends and Family to the Rubber Ducky Race at Leo Ryan Park on Saturday, September 25

A full day of fun for the whole family is planned on Saturday, September 25, when the Rubber Ducky Race returns to Foster City. The event last held nearly 30 years ago will take place in Leo Ryan Park and feature a variety of activities, festivities, food, live music, and more for the entire community to enjoy.

The schedule for the day includes:

  • 8 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Food Concessions: Breakfast and other food will be served by community service clubs.
  • 8:30-10:00 a.m. Inflatable Raft Races: Community members who bring their own inflatable vessel, such as a raft or innertube, will race through the lagoon along the boardwalk. There will be four heats – two for adults and two for families with at least one person younger than twelve. The cost to compete is $10 per boat for Foster City residents and $20 per boat for non-residents.   • 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Quack Collection: Participants will race around the lagoon to collect commemorative rubber duckies from designated collection stations. Advance registration is necessary, for more info visit https://www.fostercity.org/parksrec/page/rubber-ducky-event-registration.
  • 1:00 p.m. Free Dragonboat and Outrigger Demo and Paddle Lesson
  • 3:00 p.m. Boat Parade: Boat parade will sail through a predetermined route on the lagoon in celebration of Foster City’s 50th Anniversary.  Residents are encouraged to join in the festivities by decorating their boat and participating in the parade or cheering as a spectator as the parade cruises around the lagoon.   • 4:00 p.m. Ceremony and Concert: Mercy & The Heartbeats will be playing a fun mix of 80s music for family and friends to dance the night away.
  • 3:30-6:30 p.m. Food Trucks
