2021 Summer Events Brings Fun to Foster City!

This summer, the City of Foster City’s Recreation Division has an abundance of summer-themed events planned for the community. In continuation of our year-long celebration of Foster City’s 50th birthday, the City has curated both virtual and in-person events, with COVID-19 safety precautions in place, for the community to enjoy. 

Below is a list of events planned throughout the summer months: 

JUNE 

  • Drive-in Movie Night - June 19, 8:45pm: Kicking off the summer is a family favorite, ‘The Sandlot’! Staff encourages attendees to come dressed in their favorite baseball team’s attire. Register for the event at www.fostercity.org/drivein
  • Kite Day - June 26: Community members can attend this free event and fly their kites, plus participate in a few contests to compete for some great prizes! Register for the event at www.fostercity.org/kiteday.

JULY 

  • Fourth of July Celebration - July 4: Components of the traditional Fourth of July Celebration are planned for this year’s event, including reservable picnic spaces, a pancake breakfast or barbecue lunch, plus our popular Dog Show, which will be held both virtually and in-person. There will also be two trivia contests during the day. The morning trivia will be virtual, and the afternoon contest will be an in-person, pub-style trivia contest. There will be no fireworks show. Visit www.fostercity.org/july4th for more information. 
  • Sandcastle Contest - July 10: Families can register for a dedicated space to compete in an amateur sandcastle contest at the beach park of Erckenbrack Park. Fresh sand will be brought in for the event. Participants will compete for great prizes. Register for the event at www.fostercity.org/sandcastlecontest
  • DIY Ice Cream Pop Up - July 18, 1-4pm: The public can register for their DIY Station and learn how to make homemade vanilla ice cream in honor of National Ice Cream Day. A toppings station will be available for participates to make delicious sundaes. Register for the event at www.fostercity.org/icecream
  • Concert Series - July 17, 24, and 31, 6-8pm: A modified version of the popular concert series returns and will feature three live music shows. Pre-registration is required, along with physical distancing and assigned seating areas. More information will be available, including a registration link, closer to the event dates. 

AUGUST 

  • National Night Out - August 3, 6-9pm: The Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with the Foster City Police Department, will host ‘National Night Out’ in Leo Ryan Park. Plans include family games, music, and food. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the event date. 
  • Family Overnighter - August 7-8, 5pm-9am: More information will be available as we get closer to the event date. 
  • Drive-in Movie - August 21: Movie will be announced closer to premiere date. 
  • Paint in the Park - August 14: Participants will learn how to paint a Foster City landscape. More information will be available closer to the event date.
