With rising traffic congestion throughout the Bay Area and its widespread impacts, Foster City has been challenged to think creatively and find solutions towards remedying this critical issue.

In 2017, as part of the CommUNITY Dialogue Series, the City hosted a community meeting regarding Transportation & Mobility. Members of the public joined City staff to hear and discuss the transportation challenges facing Foster City in particular. It was also an opportunity to consider what potential solutions could be explored.

A growing concern from many residents was the increased traffic congestion in Foster City due to cut-through traffic on East Hillsdale Boulevard during peak evening commute hours. Through collaborative discussion, a suggestion as to how we may address this concern and discourage cut-through traffic in Foster City was proposed. City Council and City staff have developed a potential Traffic Relief Pilot Program and ask that you join us in an important meeting to understand how implementation of such a program may affect you and/or potentially improve the ability for all to get in, out, and around our City.

“We have heard your concerns about traffic. We have an idea to address cut-through traffic in our City and want your feedback,” said Mayor Sam Hindi.

All community members are invited to participate in the upcoming CommUNITY Dialogue Series on the Traffic Relief Pilot Program to be held on October 20, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Wind Room at the Foster City Community Center. Be informed and get involved in strategies for lasting solutions.
