Citizen Advisory Committees

An important component of the City's policy-making structure is its various Committees that recommend and advise the Council on special issues.  Civic-minded volunteers are appointed by the City Council, usually for a term of three years for Committee members and four years for Planning Commissioners. Appointments are typically made in December of to fill expiring terms for Committee members, in May for Planning Commissioners as well as during the year to fill partial terms. Apply to Join the Citizens Sustainability Advisory Committee! The City of Foster City is currently accepting applications for the Citizens Sustainability Advisory Committee (CSAC) to fill five vacancies. Term information is as follows:

Full, three-year terms (September 1, 2025, through August 31, 2028) for two residents, one nonprofit representative, one small business representative and one large business representative. Monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers Conference Room, 620 Foster City Blvd.

Applications for CSAC will be accepted electronically via Netfile. Applicants are encouraged to sign up for an account and apply here. Applications can also be downloaded here and submitted via email or at City Hall.

The Audit Committee shall advise the City Council regarding the selection of the independent auditor(s), the review of the annual audit process and financial statements, and other financial matters as requested by the City Council/EMID Board of Directors or suggested by the Audit Committee.

Citizens Sustainability Advisory Committee Meetings shall be held as needed, 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 PM. Council Chambers Conference Room, 620 Foster City Blvd. The Citizens Sustainability Advisory Committee (CSAC) serves in an advisory capacity at the pleasure of the City Council. The Citizens Sustainability Advisory Committee shall advise the City Council on sustainability issues facing Foster City regarding Environmental, Economic, or Social sustainability and research, review, and provide comments on proposed programs and initiatives.

Five (5) Foster City Resident voting member seats; and

Two (2) Foster City Resident youth voting member seats; and

Two (2) In-town Business voting member seats

  •  One (1) business voting member should be from one of the City’s major employers; and
  • One (1) business voting member should be from one of the City’s small businesses

Parks and Recreation

1st Tuesdays at 6:30 pm

The Parks and Recreation Committee of the City of Foster City serves in an advisory capacity at the pleasure of the City Council. The Parks and Recreation Committee shall support the spirit of the City Council priorities and Parks and Recreation goals and objectives in order to provide for a parks and recreation program that is responsive to the interests of Foster City citizens and strives for comprehensive community engagement.

Traffic Review

Last Thursdays at 1:00 pm

Council Chambers Conference Room, 620 Foster City Blvd.

The Traffic Review Committee shall only make advisory recommendations to the City Council. It shall be the duty of the Traffic Review Committee to receive and review appeals or requests from citizens or staff regarding traffic matters and to make recommendations to the City Council.

Youth Advisory

1st Wednesdays at 7:00 pm

The VIBE: 670 Shell Blvd

The Foster City Youth Advisory Committee shall exist as a citizens' group to advise and respond to the City Council in all matters related to the needs of the youth in Foster City and to promote teen involvement in the community.
