City of Foster City COVID-19 Small Business Resiliency Grant Program

The City of Foster City announced a new local small business grant program to support operations and help avert layoffs during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The COVID-19 Small Business Resiliency Grant Program is open to local commercial and retail businesses in Foster City with 25 or fewer employees and restaurants of any employee-size that are independently-owned.

ELIGIBLE BUSINESSES AND REQUIREMENTS

The program is open to local commercial and retail businesses in Foster City with 25 or fewer employees and restaurants of any employee-size that are independently-owned. Businesses are also required to enroll in virtual technical assistance and resource network. In addition, businesses must:

  • Have a facility located in Foster City;
  • Have a current Foster City business license;
  • Generate less than $2,500,000 in gross receipts;
  • Demonstrate a loss of revenue of 20% or more; and
  • Submit a W-9, Federal Tax ID number, and their Foster City business license number (if awarded).

GRANT AMOUNT

A grant of $10,000 per business is available for up to 50 businesses. The grant is not required to be paid back. Grant funds can be used for commercial rent payments, utilities, and payroll costs. Businesses receiving grant funds are encouraged to comply with Local, State, and Federal guidelines for operating their businesses (social distancing guidelines, clean down procedures, limiting in-store occupancy, etc.).

APPLICATION PROCESSING PROCEDURES - Due to overwhelming response, we are currently NOT accepting applications.

  1. ALL forms must be submitted to the Small Business Resiliency Grant Program Form below. Please complete the following forms (these forms can be filled out electronically using Adobe Acrobat):
  2. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling, first submitted basis and selected by the City.
  3. The City will make efforts to quickly review requests and distribute the funds once the application has been received and reviewed. We estimate funds will be dispensed within 48 to 72 hours following the notification of the grant award and the receipt of a W-9.
  4. After the grant is awarded, electronic payment will be made directly to the provided business bank account or a check will be mailed directly to the address provided.

POST PAYMENT VERIFICATION

After the grant funds have been disbursed, the City will require post payment verification. NOTE: Grant funds can be used for commercial rent payments, utilities, and payroll costs. Verification can be provided in the form of canceled rent checks, utility bills, and other appropriate forms of verification.
