Fire Department Hiring

To work as a firefighter in Foster City you will need to be 18 years of age or older and possess the following minimum qualifications (there is no residency requirement):
- Prior firefighting experience or completion of a Fire Academy;
- Possession of a Class B California driver?S license prior to completion of probation;
- Possession of a California Emergency Medical Technician I (EMT-1) Certificate;
- Highly desirable - Possession of Paramedic Certification;
- Highly desirable - Possession of 30 semester units in Fire Science or an Associate Degree

The hiring process includes a written test, an oral board interview, a physical ability test and an interview with the Fire Chief. An extensive background check is required.
