Foster City Fire Department & Emergency Preparedness

Foster City Fire Chief Tom Reaves recommends the best thing you can do to prepare for any emergency is to be prepared to "stand alone" for 72 hours, without assistance from fire, police or other emergency service workers.  Make sure you have enough food, water and first aid supplies to care for yourself, your family members and your pets during a 72 hour period following any type of disaster.

Preparedness is no accident.  Each day individuals prepare contingencies in scheduling, traffic, work interruption, child care and other areas that may be affected by unforeseen circumstances.  It is just as important to prepare a contingency plan for a major disaster that could cause a delay in emergency services.  At such a time, individuals will need to have the basic information and supplies to help themselves and one another.

The "Emergency Preparedness Guide for Families and Individuals" contains essential preparedness activities, including step-by-step instructions on how to do them. Download a copy (click on the links below) or Foster City residents may pick up a complete guide at the Fire Station located at 1040 E. Hillsdale Blvd.  The Fire Department also offers free training for Foster City residents who wish to learn how to prepare.
