Answer: Foster City is located about 25 miles south of San Francisco along the San Francisco Peninsula. It is about 30 miles north of San Jose. Hugged by San Mateo to the West, and San Francisco Bay to the East, Foster City is literally an island built on engineered landfill on the Bay. Just south of us is Redwood Shores, also built on San Francisco Bay. To the north would be Burlingame ... that is, if it extended into the Bay!
