FAQ - Sheds Higher Than the Fence

Question: Do I need a permit to put in a shed that is higher than the fence?

Answer: Sheds that are higher than the fence line or visible from the water are required to obtain a Architectural Review from the Planning/Code Enforcement Division.

Detached sheds are required to be set back 5' from the side and rear property lines and 10' from the house.

Attached sheds, which share a common wall with the house (custom sheds) are required to be set back 5' from the side and rear property lines. For more information including submittal requirements, please contact the Planning/Code Enforcement Division.
