FAQ - Satellite Dish Permits
Question: What permits do I need to install a satellite dish on my property?
Answer: Residential satellite dishes less than one meter in diameter and commercial satellite dishes less than two meters in diameter are preempted from City review by order of the Federal Communications Commission. The City encourages such dishes to be installed in the least obtrusive location that allows them to function. All other residential satellite dishes require an architectural review permit.
All other commercial satellite dishes require a use permit, including a public hearing before the Planning Commission. Contact the Planning/Code Enforcement Division for information regarding satellite dish installation requirements.
Following architectural review or use permit approval you must also obtain a building permit before installing the satellite dish. To obtain information concerning this permit contact the Building Inspection.
