FAQ - Roof Permits

Question: Do I need to obtain a permit replace the roof on our house. ?

Answer: A building permit is required. Changes in roof color and materials are subject to City review. The Planning/Code Enforcement Division has a list of approved roof materials and/or colors for single-family houses. If your house is located within a planned development there may be other approved materials and colors. Stop by the Planning/Code Enforcement Division counter at City Hall and examine the most recent approved list to ensure that your new roof will comply with City standards. If the material or color you wish to use on your house is not on the approved list you may bring in a sample of the proposed material/color and the Planning/Code Enforcement Division staff will review it to see if it is appropriate to add it to the list.
