Question: I'm thinking of buying a house in Foster City. How do I obtain info on plans or previous work done on the house?
Answer: The Foster City Building Department can assist you in determining if there was any work done on your house for which building permits were issued.
Copies of the plans for your house may also be available if your house was built after 1972. To determine if plans for your house are on microfilm, please contact the Building Inspection Division or stop by City Hall.
You should also check with the City to see if exterior improvements to your house obtained required permits from the Planning/Code Enforcement Division. The Planning/Code Enforcement Division can assist you in determining if the required planning permits were obtained for work done at your house.
