FAQ - Do I need a permit for a fence
Question: Do I need a permit to replace, construct or repair a fence?
Answer: A permit for a fence replacement is only required when the fence is along a street, next to a park or public walkway or your house is on the water. A permit may also be required if the property is in a Planned Development.
If you are constructing a fence along the water (safety rail) or in the front yard (excluding fences between the house and the side property line which are beyond the main wall of the house) and security gates require an Architectural Review.
If you are repairing your fence, please contact the Planning/Code Enforcement Division to determine if a permit is required.
For submittal requriements, please contact the Planning/Code Enforcement Division for more information.
