Recycle, Compost, and Garbage Collection Program

Beginning in 2011, Recology San Mateo is your Recycle, Compost, and Garbage collection service provider. BizSMART is the name of the program for the Recycle, Compost, and Garbage collection services that began on January 3, 2011 for businesses and multi-family dwellings.

As part of the program, businesses and multi-family dwellings may subscribe to the following: 
  1. Recycle – Blue Cart/Bin: For all recyclables mixed together (metal, plastic and glass, and cardboard and paper). Single-stream recycling services are offered at NO ADDITIONAL COST
  2. Compost – Green Cart/Bin: For Food scraps, landscape materials, waxed paper and cardboard, wooden crates and pallets, and more. Compost collection services are offered at a REDUCED rate of 25% less than garbage rates.
  3. Garbage – Black Cart/Bin: For anything that you can't recycle or compost

Effective July 1, 2012, California Assembly Bill (AB) 341 states that all businesses and public entities that generate four (4) or more cubic yards of garbage per week and multi-family dwellings with five (5) or more units are subject to mandatory recycling.  Follow this link for more information.
