On Friday, August 24, 2013, Foster City Police Department (FCPD) Reserve Lieutenant Mark Feeney received the Meritorious Service award from the California Reserve Peace Officers Association. Feeney began his law enforcement career in 1980, continuously serving the residents of Foster City for thirty-three years. As a Reserve Police Officer, Feeney has volunteered over ten thousand hours of service to the community of Foster City.

Feeney currently serves as the FCPD Reserve Unit Commander. He has responded during numerous critical incidents and emergency operations, as well as working a regular weekly patrol shift. He has participated in many high-risk enforcement actions, has served on protection details for national political dignitaries, and has been a key contributor in many positive community events, including the Foster City Arts and Wine Festival, Independence Day celebration, and Halloween Safe Streets. Feeney's many years of exceptional performance, dedication to duty, and his unselfish service to the Foster City Police Department, to the City of Foster City and its residents, and to the Law Enforcement profession made him a deserving candidate for this recognition.

Reserve Police Officers are men and women who each year collectively volunteer thousands of hours of service to Foster City and its community members. Prior to becoming a Reserve Police Officer, each candidate completes a rigorous application screening process, background check, and training program. Reserve Police Officers fill a crucial law enforcement role by supplementing the day-to-day patrols of full time officers as well as responding during special events and emergency incidents.
