A public forum will be held at the City Council meeting on Monday, October 21, 2013, at 6:30 p.m., to discuss the preferred alternatives for Werder Park and Destination Park. The parks reflect the following design concepts:
Open space, restroom, mobile concession space, city maintenance storage area, pathways, picnic tables, benches, limited parking with loading and unloading zones
Open and passive park space, restroom, and natural pathways
Werder Park includes a picnic area, restroom and parking lot, consisting of 2.6 acres, adjacent to Werder Pier that was formerly owned by the County of San Mateo. (The County still owns the pier.) Destination Park is a triangular shaped parcel near Halibut Street. This is the fourth in a series of public meetings on the subject.
The City has hired Callander & Associates, a park planning and landscape architectural firm, to assist in engaging our community to identify viable options for the use of these City-owned properties. They will do a presentation discussing the preliminary preferred alternatives at both sites. Public input is welcome and encouraged.
