‘E komo mai (welcome)! Bring the ‘ohana (family) and celebrate Polynesian Culture at the Foster City Parks and Recreation Department’s 13th annual Polynesian Festival! This free event will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10 AM to 5 PM at Leo Ryan Park Amphitheatre.

In honor of our 13th year, we will be exploring the Superstitions of Polynesia. If you’ve ever wondered why bringing pork across the Pali in Hawaii or whistling at night is considered bad luck, come to the Festival and you’ll find out why!

There will be colorful and spectacular cultural performances from award-winning professional Polynesian Dance companies including Heilala O Polynesia of Newark, Hui Tarava of San Francisco, Kawailehua Hula Ohana of Milpitas, Manuia of Daly City, Merahi o Tehani of Union City, Motu’aina of Danville, Rahiti of Daly City, Te Fare Upa Here/Nemenzo of San Francisco, Te Pura O Te Rahura’a of South San Francisco and Tiare O Te Ao of Hercules.

Don’t miss this exciting day of cultural activities, arts and crafts booths, canoe rides offered by Ho’okahi Pu’uwai Outrigger Canoe Club, food and more!

Admission is free, however food and drinks are available for purchase. Parking will be available at the Recreation Center, Library/Community Center and City Hall.

For more information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 286-3380.
