Construction Advisory Notice: Library Grading Project
For Immediate Release: August 24, 2016
Contact: 'Andra Lorenz, (650) 286-3215,

Beginning August 29, 2016, the City of Foster City, in coordination with a contractor, will be grading and installing drainage infrastructure outside of the Foster City Library and water treating the library building. The project will be highly visible on the corner of East Hillsdale and Shell Boulevards. Completion of this project will ensure that the library building remains structurally sound to serve the Foster City public for years to come.

In order to complete this project, landscaping, including small trees, has already been removed from the northwest side of the building. Staff is currently evaluating landscaping options and will be installing new landscaping to complement the building as soon as possible after grading and infrastructure installation is complete.

Traffic impacts to the general public will be minimal. However, please be aware that there may be some noise associated with the project. Work hours will be from 8 AM to 5 PM during the weekdays and 9 AM to 5 PM on the weekend, if needed.

Although this work is not expected to impact library access, patrons are reminded that the Children's Section of the library is scheduled to remain closed through mid-September due to maintenance work being performed in the interior area of the Children's Section. Children's materials will be largely unavailable from the Foster City location, although librarians will be happy to help patrons place holds on materials from other library branches.

Your patience during this project is greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions or concerns about the project, please contact Jennifer Liu, Director of Parks and Recreation, at (650) 286-3390 or
