The public is invited to help Foster City study options for the use of two City-owned parcels along the bayfront levee pedway. Werder Park includes a picnic area, restroom and parking lot, consisting of 2.6 acres, adjacent to Werder Pier that was formerly owned by the County of San Mateo. (The County still owns the pier.) Destination Park is a triangular shaped parcel near Halibut Street. A public forum will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 620 Foster City Boulevard, to discuss the potential uses of these two parcels. This is the second in a series of public meetings on the subject.
The public is being asked to help answer the following questions: What are the possible uses of these locations? How can they be best utilized by the City to enhance the quality of life of its residents? How can these sites support Foster City as the ideal community on the Peninsula to live, work and play?
The City has hired Callander & Associates, a park planning and landscape architectural firm, to assist us in engaging our community to identify viable options for the use of these City-owned properties. Some ideas that have already been proposed to us include:
