For Immediate Release: August 23, 2016

Foster City has one of the best maintained roadways in all the Bay Area, which contributes to the quality of life we experience by living, working or playing in this community. We achieve those high rankings by proactively resurfacing various streets within the City on an annual basis. The 2016 Street Rehabilitation Project is about to get underway.

Residents and motorists are advised that nearly 10 different street segments in Foster City will be repaired as part of this summer's Street Rehabilitation Project. The work will include installation of curb ramps, repair of pavement failures, asphalt paving and refresh of fading pavement markers and lane lines on some street sections. Also included in this project is the repair of asphalt pathways in 5 parks. See Attachment A and Attachment B for the streets and parks included in this project.

Work is expected to begin on August 29, 2016, and will take approximately seven-weeks to complete (short of any weather-related or unforeseen conditions that may affect the overall schedule).

The City's general contractor for this project is G. Bortolotto, Inc. of San Carlos. Work activities will normally take place Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 AM and 5 PM for the residential streets and parks pathways, and 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for the arterial streets. However, there may be instances when work activities will need to take place outside the normal periods.

Streets may be temporarily closed and street parking prohibited during the day(s) that streets are worked on. The City's contractor will provide residents with two advance written notifications outlining the dates for working on their streets and temporary signage will be posted along the roadway to alert all motorists of parking restrictions.

Vehicular access to driveways may be restricted on the day of work. If your residence will be affected, please make sure that your cars are not parked in the roadway during the times posted on temporary signs. If you need to use your car that is normally parked in the street or in the driveway, you can avoid delays by parking on a nearby street not posted for work. If you plan to be on vacation, please make arrangements to park your vehicles off street to avoid being towed.

If you have any questions or concerns or would like more information regarding this project, please contact the Foster City Public Works Department at 286-3270. Updated information about this project will also be posted on the City of Foster City website at www.fostercity.org.

The City appreciates everyone's patience and cooperation with any inconvenience caused by this construction activity as we work to maintain our streets.
