Armed Robbery

On December 14, 2013, at about 11:46 p.m., an armed robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Courtyard Marriott at 550 Shell Boulevard,Foster City. The victim, a 68 year old male visiting from Oklahoma, had just returned to the hotel after an evening of gambling at the Lucky Chances Casino in Colma. After parking his rental car in the hotel lot, the victim exited the vehicle and was immediately confronted by two suspects, one of whom pointed a shotgun at the victim and demanded his property. The victim, fearing for his life, turned over his wallet, phone, cash and casino chips. The two suspects then fled the area in a late model, white 4-door sedan. The victim, who was unharmed during this incident, went into the front lobby of the hotel and the police were immediately notified. The suspects were not located during an extensive area check by responding officers. The victim felt he was followed from the casino back to the hotel by the suspects. The FCPD, working cooperatively with Colma PD and Lucky Chances Casino are following up on this investigative lead as of the writing of this press release.

Suspect #1 was described as an Asian or Hispanic male adult, 30-39 years old, 5-9, 190lbs, with a stocky build. This suspect was in possession of a shotgun during the robbery.

Suspect #2 was described as an Asian or Hispanic male adult, 30-39 years old, with a thin build. It is unknown if this suspect was armed.

In an effort to prevent similar crimes, drivers are encouraged to park in well-lighted areas and to observe their surroundings when leaving your car at night. If someone threatens you while you are in your car, lock all your doors and blow the horn in short bursts to attract attention. If you are followed by another car, honk your horn all the way to the nearest Police or Fire Station. When on vacation or out of the area, do not advertise that you are a tourist by placing maps and travel brochures in the glove compartment.
