RethinkWaste's 4th Annual Trash to Art Contest Winners
For Immediate Release: April 14, 2016
RethinkWaste's Fourth Annual Trash to Art contest was open to all 3rd through 6th grade classes in the RethinkWaste service area and featured a special category for individual students. The contest challenged students and teachers to give trash a new meaning by creating artwork of any medium such as sculptures, collages and murals from material collected from home, school, and everyday life.

A total of 32 pieces were submitted from schools in Belmont, San Mateo, East Palo Alto, Foster City, Atherton, Redwood City, Menlo Park, and San Carlos. The 1st through 4th Place winners for the class and individual category will be recognized at the Earth Day event on April 23rd at the Shoreway Environmental Center.

A special congratulations to Ms. Jennifer Flaherty's fifth grade class from Brewer Island Elementary for their fourth place entry! They had created a rubik's cube made from bottle caps and cardboard.
