FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Veterans Honor Wall to be Placed in Leo J. Ryan Park

Foster City, CA; September 25, 2012

The Veterans Honor Wall was a concept requested for evaluation by the Foster City City Council based upon the desire of family, friends, and organizations to honor their loved ones who served in the armed forces. Construction of the Veterans Honor Wall was made possible with City Council authorization to utilize $50,000 from the Capital Improvement Fund, and nameplate dedication requires a $250 donation which ensures the nameplate in perpetuity.

To be eligible for the Foster City Veterans Honor Wall, the nominee must be a current or former resident of Foster City or a current or former employee of the City of Foster City. Additional information about the Veterans Honor Wall Foundation Program and Application Form is available at the Recreation Center, Community Center, and City Hall.

The Veterans Honor Wall will consist of a four foot tall by 50 foot long cement wall, with a five foot return at each end, similar in style as the sections at the Meadow Stage also in Leo J. Ryan Park. A 30 foot flag pole with a flag will also be installed along with spot lights which will illuminate the Veterans Honor Wall hardscape area.

For more information, questions, or concerns, please contact Kevin Miller, Director of Parks and Recreation at (650) 286-3388 or kmiller@fostercity.org.
