The City of Foster City is accepting applications from residents interested in serving on the Planning Commission to fill one unexpired (partial) term ending May 31, 2012 due to the passing of Commissioner Ron Cox.
The Planning Commission consists of five residents of Foster City. To be eligible to apply, a resident must be at least eighteen years old and must have continuously resided in the city for a period of at least three years immediately prior to submission of an application for appointment to the Planning Commission. Community involvement in Foster City and relevant experience will be considered in evaluating applicants. Appointments are made by the Mayor upon the recommendation and approval of the City Council. Planning Commissioners are compensated $269.00 per month and are eligible to participate in the City’s health benefits plan.
Interested residents may apply by submitting an application form to the City Clerk stating qualifications and objectives for desiring to become a member of the Planning Commission. Application forms are available at City Hall, by calling 286-3250, or at www.fostercity.org. Applications will only be accepted by the City Clerk up to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011. Applications may be hand-delivered or mailed to the City of Foster City, Attention: City Clerk, 610 Foster City Boulevard, Foster City, CA 94404. All applicants will be interviewed by the City Council at its regular meeting of Tuesday, September 6, 2011. Only applicants attending the September 6 Council Meeting will be interviewed in public and considered for appointment to the Planning Commission that evening. All applicants are invited to attend the regular meeting of the Planning Commission of Thursday, August 4, 2011, during which Planning Commissioners will be available to discuss the purpose and responsibilities of the Commission. The Planning Commission meets at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers located at 620 Foster City Boulevard (adjacent to City Hall).
Appointees must file a Statement of Economic Interests form with the City Clerk within thirty (30) days of assuming office, as mandated by California State Law.
