The City of Foster City has announced that the public parking lot south of the Recreation Center at 650 Shell Boulevard will be closed and unavailable for public use from August 31 to September 4, 2009.

During the parking lot closure, Recreation Center patrons may park in the vacant lot on the east side of Shell Boulevard.

This project will be managed by the Parks and Recreation Department and the objective will be the removal of small concrete parking island curbs in the parking lot. The general contractor performing work on this project is the American Asphalt Company.

The work includes:

• Closing - Safety fencing will be erected at driveway entry/exit locations. The parking lot will be closed starting Monday, August 31, 2009.
• Equipment Mobilization – The contractor will bring equipment and materials into the parking lot for staging.
• Preparation work – Eight (8) parking lot “squares” (5ft. by 5ft.) will be removed. Base rock will be installed and compacted, and asphaltic concrete will be laid to level the surface.
• Painting – All eight (8) areas will be re-striped.
• Opening – The parking lot will re-open on or before Friday, September 4, 2009 at 4:00 PM.
